Carne Golf Links is a gem of a links course on one of the most westerly, remote and rugged points in Ireland.

Carne Golf Links is located on Belmullet Peninsula, one and a half miles west of Belmullet town with breathtaking views over the wild Atlantic Ocean.

Hackett 18 course

Designed by the late Eddie Hackett, the layout of the course offers a variety of interesting holes with each having a unique character. They require some creative shot-making and skilful course management. The ubiquitous Atlantic wind makes the second nine a real challenge on the 11th, 14th and 17th in particular – a gem of a links, which is well worthy of a visit.

Wild Atlantic Dunes course

The development of the Wild Atlantic Dunes course now gives two courses at Carne – the original Hackett 18, and the newer Wild Atlantic Dunes 18 – the courses are in play on every second day.

Highlights

Stay overnight in Belmullet, and play both courses over two days. An experience not to be missed.

Food & Drink

The Clubhouse at Carne Golf Club houses the inviting Lír bar and restaurant. Their menus source ingredients from local suppliers, offering sustainability and great food to visiting golfers.

Things to do

Visit the Iniskea Islands for their rich, amazing scenery and rare wildlife, making them both archaeologically and ecologically sensitive. Barnacle geese winter there. The low-lying coasts are also home to a large number of grey seals.

The Céide Fields are the oldest known field systems in the world, over five and a half millennia old. The remains of stone field walls, houses and megalithic tombs are preserved beneath a blanket of peat over several square miles. The visitor’s centre allows you to experience the prehistoric landscape, a natural wild ecology of blanket bog and dramatic cliffs.
