Situated in a panoramic corner of Dingle Bay, Dooks Golf Links serves up some of the most spectacular views that Irish links golf has to offer.

Golf has been played at Dooks since 1889 and is one of Ireland’s oldest golf courses. Dooks was originally a nine-hole course and in 1970 the members designed and constructed the second nine.

The Martin Hawtree redesign was completed in 2006 and made Dooks a genuine world-class links golf challenge.

The hidden gem of the south-west

The course is set out on one of three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle Bay. Dooks is known to be the hidden gem of the south-west, with golfers getting to experience links golf at its best without the premium green fee. The wonderful setting has views of the McGillycuddy’s Reeks to the east, the hills of Glenbeigh to the west and to the north are the Dingle Mountains and Slieve Mish.

Highlights

The front 9 features some tightly laid out holes where accuracy is paramount. Most notable is the par-4 7th which is almost impossible to reach in 2 if the wind is against.

The 150 yard 13th hole has been quoted as a throwback to the time when golf began, with the approach playing into an amphitheatre-style green. The closing hole, a long, slightly uphill par 4 to a guarded green provides a tough ending to a wonderful track.

Facilities

A fully stocked pro-shop and practise facilities are available.

Food & Drink

Dooks Natterjack Bar offers an old world charm. Everyone, golfers and non-golfers, are made to feel at home around the curved bar. When you have a pint in Dooks you could be in any friendly pub in Ireland.

The restaurant offers full service throughout the day. It has a wide variety of home cooked food with locally sourced produce. A selection of light snacks or more traditional meals is also available.

Things to do

Dooks Golf Links is located along the Ring of Kerry and if you would like to take in some sights either to or from your round, there are a number of shortened routes you can take between Killarney and Dooks. Rossbeigh, one of Ireland’s finest beaches, is located a short drive from Dooks.

If an insight into Ireland in the 18th century would be of interest, a visit to the Bog Village is a must, only 5 minutes from Dooks Golf Links, the village gives you a fascinating insight into how people lived and worked in Ireland in the 18th Century. The village is the only one of its kind in Europe and is one of Kerry’s leading tourist attractions. Ideal for families and tourists with spacious parking and a restaurant and bar onsite.
